Abstract

This article explores the potential of ethnic media in organizing cross-cultural dialogue and fostering societal cohesion, as well as highlighting the concepts of migration. The purpose of this study is to study the phenomenon of ethnic media that are reaching a new level of actualization in modern geopolitical conditions, as well as to consider the factors of thematic intersection of information spaces of diaspora and migrant media. An attempt has been made to describe the functional features of these platforms in the representation of ethno-cultural diversity in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Various interpretations of the concept of ethnic media, specifically as media diasporas, migrant communities, various ethnic groups, and minority populations, have been subject to scholarly investigation.

In addition, this article presents a comparative analysis of the news agenda between ethnic journalism and the mainstream media industry. It also highlights the elements of ethnographic research, cultural anthropology, and ethnic journalism. Based on the content analysis of ethnic media in Kazakhstan, the authors observe a low level of informational and adaptive support for migrants. They note the absence of an editorial concept and lack of journalist engagement in this particular subject matter.
