Abstract

The theme of the Famine of Kazakhstan in 1932-1933 is historically relevant, but not actively represented in the global and domestic information field. The necessity to disclose information and popularization of national tragedy, the Kazakh famine of 1932-1933, stems from the goals of restoring historical justice by studying past political solutions, governmental failures, and shortcomings. Traditional and social
media, documentaries are an information platform for identifying and discussing one of the secret stages of the
state development of that period. The special importance in article focuses on the Holodomor in Kazakhstan works by foreign authors and scientific studies. It is obvious that the popularity of the history of collectivization of nomads is increasing in the foreign media sphere. Also, it is possible to find the growing interest in this theme at the beginning of each decade (the year 2001, 2011, 2021) over the past thirty years by the example of the national republican newspaper “Egemen Kazakhstan”. There are described official observances, journalists’ opinions, and other related information on Holodomor in Kazakhstan. Based on a sociological survey there
were drawn conclusions on the awareness of the Kazakh people on Holodomor. The results allow us to say that the secrecy of this topic has created an information vacuum and the public is not familiar with the details of the historical tragedy, moreover, some respondents are not aware of its existence.
