Abstract

Often a regional television is researched like a special element of media economic,
but specifically a local television becomes a culture self-value sourse in the global information. There
are resalts of Kostanay television researching is considered like an object in local community culture
existence issue in this article. For this aim there is the role of regional TV channels has been defined and
a focus group has been conducted among students of the department of journalism and communication
management within the framework of the “Media Research” discipline. The results showed that Kostanay
television has not only economic, but also cultural influence from the west and the audience of local
television is not quite satisfied with the present content. In the course of the focus group, pain points of
the relationship between TV channels and viewers were identified, as well as the audience’s wishes for
increasing interactivity and integration with the Internet. Based on the data obtained, it is assumed that
television is the cultural and information node of the community of a certain region, which can preserve
the peculiarities of the historical, economic and political development of its territory.
