The article examines the challenges of the publishing industry in Kazakhstan and the opportunities for its development. It analyzes sources of public and private funding, existing programs, and international experience. Additionally, strategic measures necessary for the development of the domestic book market are proposed. The research methodology is based on data from social studies, open sources, and the dynamics of global publishing industry development. Currently, each country is exploring various ways to finance the book industry. The article reviews global trends, innovative solutions, and strategies for overcoming crisis situations in this field. It is noted that active public participation is essential for the publishing industry's competitiveness. Furthermore, the role of literary agents who facilitate the publication of authors' books both in neighboring and distant foreign countries, as well as in the CIS, is emphasized. The article highlights that integrating the institution of literary agents into the domestic book market is an urgent and pressing issue. The aim of the study is to analyze changes in the book industry, identify key problems, and develop conceptual proposals for their resolution.
