Abstract

The article is devoted to a relevant topic – a formation, development, and influence of new media
in Kazakhstan. The term ‘new media’ is synonymous with ‘convergent media’, ‘multimedia media’. With the
advent of the Internet, different genres of journalism have merged. This is accompanied by different forms of
information presentation. Today, you can listen to the news, watch, read or view through infographics, without
waiting for the evening news on TV or morning newspapers. Thanks to new media and Internet resources,
information quickly and easily come to the viewer. We can say that the character, the form of presentation of the material has changed, there has been a kind of mutation of the usually established text forms. The authors have
analyzed many social networks. The article considers a content and character qualities of these social networks.
The authors point out that today journalism has undergone great changes. There were formed new genres of
journalism in the transmission of information and ways of influencing the consciousness of people. The authors
also revealed that journalism and new media is a promising and effective institution of civil society. The article
reveals positive and negative trends in the use of new media and suggests ways to solve this problem. An
important part of new media is interactivity, which shows how quickly and conveniently each user can receive
information and share it. The authors note that social networks (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram) are an important
trend in new media.
