Abstract

The article analyzes the role of the library in the formation of the modern information space and its place in society, the digital systematization of information resources, the impact of big data on library activities, as well as the concept of information space, its structure, function, as well as the specifics and actual problems of the modern library as a single important component of the information space. The functions of the library as not only a keeper of information resources, but also a center for disseminating knowledge, increasing digital literacy and forming an information culture are analyzed. Several components of the types of information in the activities of the library are considered, which today are manuscripts, books and otherprinted publications, as well as all kinds of electronic media. The introduction of new information technologies in the activities of the library not only expands the scope of services, but also significantly strengthens the position of the library as a modern cultural and social institution, it is established that at present the library is a multifunctional cultural and social institution and describes the place, role, features and important points of the world information space in society. New modern features in the library: open access, open licenses, an increase in electronic collections, Information Culture and digital literacy are also considered.
