Abstract

The article discusses the history of magazine design, stages of development and modern changes.
It is said that although each era has similar trends and trends, creative methods also differ according to the
specific cultural characteristics of the time. The article is based on fashion magazines.
The purpose of this scientific article is to study the genesis of artistic solutions in magazine design in past
centuries, the stages of its development and changes in the modern media sphere. In addition, the distinctive
styles of each period and the transformation of today’s cover and magazine pages into the media space are
distinguished. In the research section, the author of the article used the general method of scientific analysis,
in particular, the methods of analysis and synthesis, layering, content analysis, and cognitive comparison were
used. Theoretical provisions and concepts of foreign and Russian scientists have been obtained.
As a result of the research work, it is not only shown that communication between the journal and the
reader is the «key of cooperation», but also determines the trends in the development of the journal industry by
expanding the scope of the media industry from year to year. The material and results of this work can be used
in the teaching of design art, in the training of magazine design specialists and in its application, in the field of
art in general, in the scientific research of artists, art critics, and culturologists
