In the digital age we can see a change in the essence of the profession of journalist
which is associated with the emergence of new channels of production, consumption and dissemination
of information. New media does not deprive journalists of their advantages: high level of professionalism
in the gathering, systematization and analysis of information. A high degree of virtualization of social relations makes it necessary to review social media as working tools in the creation of media products.
The authors of the article show in their research how Kazakh journalists use social media for professional
purposes and impact of social media on the professional role of journalists in society
