Abstract

This study examines mediated communication and journalism in the North region
of Russia. This is Yakutia which has 13 Arctic settlements. Ethnic journalism is considered within the
prism of current issues of bilingualism that affects the functioning of the media and as a result, allows
to formulate the basic principles of ethno-oriented journalism. Bilingualism (multilingualism), due to
the growing interaction of economic, scientific, cultural and political interests, increasingly determines
the success of media interaction. The differences in ethno journalism and ethnic journalism are given;
examples of bilingual interference are presented in the article. The authors explore various types of media
in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), with the aim of creating a media-lingual model for an audience that
forms a new culture
