It is no secret that the rapid development of the Internet creates more and more opportunities for
instant information, along with this, new problems there arise among readers, viewers, audiences, and network
users.
Every day it becomes more and more difficult to distinguish the accuracy of the information that is imposed
on us from the airwaves, social networks, cell phones. Even those with some degree of high intellectual literacy are finding it increasingly difficult to discern what the information is, «with a little bit of lying,» «with a little
distortion,» or how much of the main fact is hidden among the secondary information, etc.
The article describes the ways of conducting fact-checking in general. Turning to the history of the
phenomenon of factcheting, the authors analyze the practical implementation of fact-checking through such
specific media resource as “Factcheck.kz”, which was one of the first to work in this field in the country. There
is noted urgency of the need for the formation of media literacy and critical analysis of information among the
mass audience.
